Application Guidelines – Dutch Equine Art Fair 2025

6–9 November | The Living Horse Museum | Amsterdam, the Netherlands

 

Thank you for your interest in exhibiting at the Dutch Equine Art Fair.
Please read the guidelines below carefully before submitting your application.

Application process
To apply, complete the online application form and upload the required documents as outlined below.
Applications are open until 4 July 2025.

Submission requirements
Please prepare the following materials:

 

CV (PDF)
Include your contact information and a short artist statement.

 

Artwork images
Submit 6 high-quality images of the artworks you are applying with. Four works will be selected.

  • Images must be well-lit and free of distracting backgrounds.

  • Name each file clearly (e.g. lastname_title_01).
     

Artwork details (PDF)
Include the following for each artwork:

  • Title

  • Dimensions (cm)

  • Medium

  • Price
     

Display requirements for 3D artists
Artists working in sculpture or three-dimensional media are responsible for bringing their own display blocks or pedestals.
These must be:

  • Stable

  • Neutral in colour (white or light grey)

  • Appropriate for the heritage setting of the venue
     

If you are unable to bring your own due to travel or logistics, we may be able to assist by sourcing a suitable pedestal locally and arranging transport to the venue. This service is optional and subject to a rental and handling fee, quoted individually.
 

International submissions
International artists may request a concierge service for advance shipment and secure storage of their work.
This service is optional and subject to a handling and storage fee, quoted individually.

 

Selection committee
All submissions will be reviewed by:

  • Elsbeth Bos – Museum director, Living Horse Museum

  • Joyce Ter Horst – Equine art curator, Paard Verzameld
     

Artists will be selected based on:

  • Artistic quality and originality

  • Professional presentation

  • Alignment with the curatorial vision of the fair
     

Eligibility
We welcome applications from individual artists whose work engages with the equine theme in a contemporary and professional way.

 

You may work in any of the following disciplines:

  • Painting

  • Drawing and illustration

  • Sculpture (including bronze, ceramic, metal, wood, etc.)

  • Photography / Video

  • Mixed media

  • 3D installations or conceptual work
     

Please note:

  • This fair is open to individual artists only.

  • Applications from galleries, collectives, or artist representatives will not be considered.

  • All submitted work must be original, professional in quality, and suitable for public display.
     

Key dates

  • Submission deadline: 4 July 2025

  • Committee decision: Week of 7 July

  • Notification of acceptance: Week of 14 July

  • Installation: 3 & 4 November

  • Vernissage (invite only): 5 November

  • Exhibition dates: 6–9 November
     

Exhibition fee

Selected artists are required to pay a participation fee of €675 (incl. VAT) to secure their place.
Participation is by selection (ballotage), and no commission is taken on sales.

This includes:

  • Allocated exhibition space (see details below)

  • Tea and coffee available throughout the fair

  • A catered vernissage (invite only)

  • Four vernissage invitations

  • Social media promotion

  • Event promotion via printed materials, newsletters, and potential press coverage

  • Ongoing artist support before and during the fair

Sculptors’ discount and support
We recognise the additional transport and display needs of sculpture.


To support your participation:

  • Sculptors who bring their own display blocks or pedestals will receive a €75 discount, confirmed upon acceptance and reflected
    in your invoice.

  • If you're travelling internationally or unable to bring your own display, we will be able to assist with sourcing, storing and transporting
    a suitable pedestal locally. This service is optional and subject to a handling and rental fee, quoted individually.

     

Exhibition space
Each selected artist will be allocated:

  • Four standing wall panels (each 122 cm wide x 250 cm high) placed side by side
     

Important notes:

  • Only one artwork per panel is allowed

  • Artists may exhibit up to four works

  • Sculptors, conceptual artists, and others working outside traditional wall-hung formats will be accommodated on a case-by-case basis
     

Artist presence at the fair
Your presence is an essential part of the experience.

 

  • Artists must be present during installation and dismantling

  • While our team manages the hanging, artwork will not be accepted unless the artist is present

  • Artists are expected to attend the vernissage and be available during designated hours throughout the fair to engage with visitors and collectors
     

We regret that applications from artists who cannot attend in person will not be considered.

Parking & access
Parking on-site is not permitted during the event.
However, artists may unload and load their artwork via a designated side entrance.
